How do I get the Password Screen up if I play Sonic Mega Collection with the Game Sonic 3 and Knuckles?

Its like this, I have A GameCube. And I got Sonic Mega Collection and Sonic Gems Collection. Well, I found out about these codes, but I can't seam to figure out how to get the password screen up.
